How do I download subtitles from YouTube?
Paste the video's link into the box above. The selector starts on Transcript, so change the format from TXT to SRT or VTT and press Download. You get a small text file where every line carries its start and end time. Put it next to the video file, or import it into your editor's captions track.
The SRT guide goes through it with screenshots.
Should I pick SRT or VTT?
Pick SRT if you're not sure. VLC, Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, CapCut, Final Cut and most TV media players read it. VTT is the web standard, so choose it for an HTML5 video player or a site that asks for WebVTT. The two hold the same lines and timings, and converting one to the other later is easy.

What if the video has no subtitles?
Then our speech-to-text (Whisper) listens to the audio and writes timed subtitles for you, on videos up to an hour long. Timings come out close to the speech, and clear voices transcribe well. It isn't perfect, though. Read through the file before you publish it, because names, jargon and overlapping voices are where errors creep in.
Is the subtitle downloader free?
Yes, for your first 3 downloads. Make a free account with an email and password and you get 3 downloads to try it. After that, A Little More is $2.50 for 20 downloads, paid once. Pro is $5.99 a month for unlimited downloads, or $14 a quarter, or $45 a year. If a download fails, it doesn't use a credit.
We build your file on our server and delete it 15 minutes after it's ready. Your account history keeps the link, the title and the format you picked, and you can clear it whenever you like. There's no app to install: it all runs in the browser on iPhone, Android, Mac and PC.
