How do I convert YouTube to MP3?
Paste the YouTube link into the box above, check that the selector says Audio, and press Download. You get an MP3 made from the best audio stream YouTube has for that video. On a computer it goes to your Downloads folder. On iPhone it goes to the Files app, and on Android it lands in Downloads, ready for any music player.
There's a longer walk-through in our YouTube to MP3 guide.
What bitrate is the MP3?
Our MP3s are variable bitrate, averaging around 190 kbps. VBR spends more bits on busy passages and fewer on quiet ones, so the file stays small without obvious loss. YouTube's own audio stream sets the ceiling either way, so a higher number on the file wouldn't make it sound better. If you want no further loss at all, pick WAV or FLAC.
See MP3 vs M4A vs WAV vs FLAC for the trade-offs.
Is MP3 or M4A better for iPhone?
Both play fine on an iPhone. M4A is Apple's native audio format, so it sits comfortably in Apple's apps and is usually a little smaller for the same sound. MP3 is the safer choice if the file will also go to a car stereo, an older MP3 player or a friend with an Android phone. When in doubt, keep the MP3 default.
Please only save audio you have the right to use. The legal guide explains more.
Is this YouTube to MP3 converter free?
Yes, for your first 3 downloads. Make a free account with an email and password and you get 3 downloads to try it. After that, A Little More is $2.50 for 20 downloads, paid once. Pro is $5.99 a month for unlimited downloads, or $14 a quarter, or $45 a year. If a download fails, it doesn't use a credit.
We build your file on our server and delete it 15 minutes after it's ready. Your account history keeps the link, the title and the format you picked, and you can clear it whenever you like. There's no app to install: it all runs in the browser on iPhone, Android, Mac and PC.
