How do I download a YouTube video?
Copy the video's link, paste it into the box at the top of this page and press Download. You get an MP4 by default, at the best quality YouTube has for that video, up to 1080p. It works the same in a phone browser and on a computer, and the file goes to your normal Downloads folder, where you can play it offline.
Can I download YouTube videos on iPhone?
Yes. Open this page in Safari, paste the link and press Download. Safari saves the video to the Files app, in the Downloads folder. From there, tap Share and then Save Video to put it in Photos with the rest of your clips. Android is simpler still: the video lands in Downloads and shows up in your gallery app.
Our iPhone Photos guide shows each tap.
Which format and quality should I choose?
Pick MP4 unless you have a reason not to. It plays on phones, TVs, PowerPoint and almost every editor. MOV suits iMovie and Final Cut, and MKV or WebM are there if you already know you want them. Quality goes up to 1080p, but only when the uploader posted it that high, so a 720p upload stays 720p.
The format guide compares all four. If you only want the sound, try YouTube to MP3; for the words, the transcript generator.
Is this YouTube downloader free?
Yes, for your first 3 downloads. Make a free account with an email and password and you get 3 downloads to try it. After that, A Little More is $2.50 for 20 downloads, paid once. Pro is $5.99 a month for unlimited downloads, or $14 a quarter, or $45 a year. If a download fails, it doesn't use a credit.
We build your file on our server and delete it 15 minutes after it's ready. Your account history keeps the link, the title and the format you picked, and you can clear it whenever you like. There's no app to install: it all runs in the browser on iPhone, Android, Mac and PC.
