How do I convert YouTube to WAV?
Paste the YouTube link into the box above, leave the selector on Audio and choose WAV from the format list. Press Download and you get a WAV file made from the best audio stream YouTube has for that video. It opens straight away in Audacity, GarageBand, Logic, Ableton, FL Studio, Premiere and pretty much every other audio or video editor.
Is a WAV from YouTube better quality than an MP3?
Not on its own. YouTube streams compressed audio, so the WAV holds exactly what that stream contains. What WAV does is stop any further loss. If you plan to cut, stretch, layer or re-export the audio, starting from WAV means you aren't compressing it a second time. For plain listening, an MP3 sounds the same and is a fraction of the size.
For listening on the go, YouTube to MP3 is the better fit.
Why is the WAV file so big?
WAV stores audio uncompressed, so a stereo file takes roughly 10 MB for every minute. A four-minute track is about 40 MB, and an hour-long talk is over half a gigabyte. If you want lossless audio at around half the size, pick FLAC instead. Most editors open FLAC too, though a few older programs still prefer WAV.
The audio format guide compares them side by side.
Is YouTube to WAV free?
Yes, for your first 3 downloads. Make a free account with an email and password and you get 3 downloads to try it. After that, A Little More is $2.50 for 20 downloads, paid once. Pro is $5.99 a month for unlimited downloads, or $14 a quarter, or $45 a year. If a download fails, it doesn't use a credit.
We build your file on our server and delete it 15 minutes after it's ready. Your account history keeps the link, the title and the format you picked, and you can clear it whenever you like. There's no app to install: it all runs in the browser on iPhone, Android, Mac and PC.
