How do I download a Vimeo video?
Copy the video's address from your browser, or use Vimeo's Share button and copy the link. Paste it into the box above and press Download. You get an MP4 at the best quality the uploader made available, up to 1080p. If the creator has switched on Vimeo's own download button under the video, that works too and gives you their original file.
Which Vimeo videos can't be downloaded?
Private videos, password-protected links and paid Vimeo On Demand titles won't work. Those either need a login or are protected with DRM. Unlisted videos shared through a public link may work, as long as they play without signing in. If a download fails, it doesn't use a credit, so trying a link costs you nothing.
Can I use a Vimeo download in my own edit?
Only with the creator's permission or a licence that allows it. A lot of Vimeo videos are portfolio work, and their owners care where clips end up. If it's your own upload and you've lost the original, downloading the MP4 is a quick way to get a copy back. MOV is there too if you edit in Final Cut.
The legal guide covers what's allowed.
Is the Vimeo downloader free?
Yes, for your first 3 downloads. Make a free account with an email and password and you get 3 downloads to try it. After that, A Little More is $2.50 for 20 downloads, paid once. Pro is $5.99 a month for unlimited downloads, or $14 a quarter, or $45 a year. If a download fails, it doesn't use a credit.
We build your file on our server and delete it 15 minutes after it's ready. Your account history keeps the link, the title and the format you picked, and you can clear it whenever you like. There's no app to install: it all runs in the browser on iPhone, Android, Mac and PC.
