How do I get the text from a TikTok video?
Copy the video's link with Share, then Copy link, and paste it into the box above. Keep the selector on Transcript and run it. The text appears on the page, so you can read it straight away. From there, press Copy text to take it into your notes, or download it as TXT, SRT or VTT without running it again.

Why can't a tool copy the captions I see on a TikTok?
Most TikTok captions are drawn onto the picture, the same way a logo is. They are part of the video, so there is no text file to fetch. Many TikToks have no caption file at all. That's why we listen to the audio with speech-to-text (Whisper) instead. It writes down what is said, and it ignores text that only appears on screen.

How accurate is it on short, fast TikToks?
Clear speech with little music comes out well. Fast talkers, slang, a trending song under the voice and two people talking at once cause mistakes. Names, brands and numbers are the usual slips. If you plan to quote the creator, play that part of the video and check the wording first. Treat the result as a quick first draft.
A voiceover read by a text-to-speech voice is usually transcribed well, because the voice is clear and even.

Creators turn a spoken TikTok into a caption, a blog post or a newsletter. Students and researchers quote what an expert said. Journalists check a clip's wording before they cite it.
