How to save a TikTok to your camera roll
Save a TikTok video into Photos on iPhone or the gallery on Android, step by step.
The fastest way to keep a TikTok is to have it sitting in your camera roll next to your own videos. Here's how on both iPhone and Android.
First, copy the link
In TikTok, tap the Share arrow on the right side of the video and choose Copy link. If you don't see Copy link, swipe the bottom row of the share sheet to the left.
On iPhone
- Open Safari and go to the TikTok downloader.
- Paste the link and tap Download. Confirm when Safari asks.
- Open the Files app, go to Downloads, and tap the video.
- Tap Share, then Save Video. It's now in Photos.
Our iPhone Photos guide covers this last part in more detail, including where Files keeps downloads.
On Android
- Open Chrome and go to the TikTok downloader.
- Paste the link and tap Download.
- Open your gallery or Google Photos. The clip is in the Downloads album.
That's it. Android puts downloads where your gallery can see them, so there's no extra step.
Why not use TikTok's own Save button?
You can, if the creator allows it. TikTok's button adds a moving logo and username, and some creators turn saving off altogether. Downloading from the link gets you the clean version when TikTok offers one. More on that in downloading TikToks without a watermark.
Saving the sound instead
If you want the audio for your own video, switch to Audio before downloading. You'll get an MP3, which you can import into CapCut or another editor. See TikTok to MP3.
Troubleshooting
- The link fails: make sure the account is public. Private and friends-only videos can't be downloaded.
- No sound when it plays: check the phone isn't on silent, then see video has no sound.
Quick answers
Can I save TikToks on a computer?
Yes. Open the TikTok in your browser, copy the address bar, and paste it into the downloader. It saves to your Downloads folder.
Does the video keep its quality?
You get the best copy TikTok has for that post, in its vertical shape, with the sound.
