How to save a TikTok sound as MP3
Keep the audio from a TikTok as an MP3 or M4A file to reuse in your own edits.
TikTok sounds get reused everywhere: in your own edits, as ringtones, in other apps. You can save the audio from any public TikTok as an MP3 in a few taps.
Save a TikTok sound
- On the TikTok, tap Share, then Copy link.
- Open the TikTok downloader in your browser.
- Paste the link and switch the selector to Audio.
- Keep MP3, or choose M4A, WAV, FLAC or Opus, then press Download.
Which format?
MP3 works in every editor and on every phone. M4A is a good choice if you'll use the sound in iMovie or GarageBand on an Apple device. If you're editing seriously and want to avoid any extra loss, pick WAV. The audio format guide explains the differences.
Using the sound in an edit
- CapCut: tap Audio, then Extracted or Your sounds, and import the file from your device.
- iMovie: tap the plus button, choose Audio, then Files, and pick the MP3.
- Desktop editors: drag the file onto your timeline.
Original sounds vs licensed songs
A creator's own voice-over or original sound belongs to them. Many TikToks also use licensed music. Saving the audio for personal listening is one thing. Putting someone else's track in a video you publish can get the video muted or taken down on other platforms. If you're unsure, use TikTok's own sound library inside the app, which handles the licensing for you. Our page on the legal question has more.
Want the words?
For a TikTok that's mostly talking, like a recipe or a how-to, switch to Transcript and you'll get the text. If the video has no captions, our speech-to-text writes them, so double-check names and quantities.

Quick answers
Can I make a ringtone from a TikTok sound?
Yes. On Android, set the MP3 as a ringtone in Settings, then Sound. On iPhone, ringtones need GarageBand: import the file, trim it to 30 seconds, and export it as a ringtone.
How long can the sound be?
As long as the TikTok. Most are under three minutes.
Can I save the sound from TikTok's sound page?
Paste the link to a video that uses the sound. The audio comes from that video.
