How to download TikTok videos without a watermark
What a TikTok watermark is, when a clean download is possible, and how to save the clean version.
When you save a TikTok with the app's own Save video button, TikTok adds its logo and the creator's username, which bounce around the frame. Plenty of people want the clip without that overlay, usually creators reposting their own work. Here's what's possible and how to do it.
Two kinds of watermark
- The one TikTok adds when you save. TikTok usually keeps a clean copy of the video too, and that's the copy we fetch when it's available.
- One that's part of the video itself. If the creator filmed or edited the logo, text or a username into the picture, it's in the pixels. Nobody can cleanly remove that, and tools that claim to just blur or crop it.
We never add a watermark of our own to anything you download.
Download the clean version
- In TikTok, tap Share (the arrow on the right), then Copy link.
- Open the TikTok downloader in your browser.
- Paste the link and keep Video and MP4.
- Press Download.
Open the file and check it. If you still see a logo that doesn't move around, it was baked into that video.
Reposting your own TikToks
This is the main reason people want a clean copy. Instagram has said it may show fewer Reels that carry another app's watermark, so a clean file gives your repost a fairer start. If you made the video, the clean download is yours to post wherever you like.
Reposting someone else's
A missing watermark doesn't make a video yours. If you share another creator's TikTok, ask them first and credit them clearly in the caption. Our page on the legal side of downloading goes into this.
Saving to your phone
On Android the clip appears in your gallery right away. On iPhone it lands in Files, and one more step puts it in Photos. See saving a TikTok to your camera roll.
What won't download
Private accounts, friends-only posts and TikTok LIVE can't be downloaded. If a public link fails, it doesn't use a credit.
Quick answers
Why does my download still have the username?
If it doesn't move around, it's part of the video itself, like a text overlay the creator added. That stays.
Do I need the TikTok app?
No. You can copy the link from tiktok.com in a browser as well.
Can I download a whole profile?
Paste one video link at a time.
